Easy Weeknight Beef & Broccoli

Fuel up through the week with this simple beef and broccoli dinner recipe! Marinated in a sesame oil sauce, this weeknight dinner is a combination of sweet and savory sesame flavors.

Ingredients

  • For The Marinade
  • 1/4 cup avocado oil
  • 2 tbs soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • For The Stir Fry
  • 0.5 lbs marinating steak fat trimmed and cut into bite-size chunks
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups broccoli chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion chopped or left into chunks
  • 1/4 cup avocado oil
  • 1 tbs avocado oil
  • 2.5 tbs soya sauce
  • 2 tbs maple syrup
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1/2 tbs sesame seeds optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Marinate the steak. In a large container. Whisk together the steak marinade and pour over the steak chunks.
  • Let sit for a minimum of twenty minutes up to 24 hours.
  • Once the steak is ready, heat a large pan over medium to high heat. Once heated, add in the steak. Cook the steak until no longer pink, mixing frequently. Do not overcook!

  • Drain the grease and remaining sauce and set the steak aside.
  • Next, heat the 1 tbs of oil in the pan, slightly over medium heat. Add in the garlic and cook 2-4 minutes until fragrant. Whisk together the sauce ingredients.

  • Add the broccoli and onion into the pan and pour the sauce overtop. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook 10-12 minutes until broccoli is desired consistency.
  • Uncover, add the beef back in and cook for another 2 minutes for all the flavors to absorb.  Portion into two dishes, top with sesame seeds and enjoy!
