These DIY Honey Lotion Bars make cute gifts and are a great way to keep your skin protected through the colder months. With only four ingredients, they are easy to make and cost effective, too!
The words “all-natural” have become quite the health tag as of late. And while I am all for more brands offering products that don’t contain scary ingredients, I’m not really loving the cost factor.
All-natural products are at an all-time high for both demand as well as price points. This means making your own beauty products can save you quite a bit of money – especially around the holidays!
DIY gifts (especially spa gifts) are one of my favorite ways to give thanks to neighbors, teachers, and friends.
Homemade gifts are thoughtful, they can be customized for any scent preference, and since you can make them in bulk, they tend to be more cost-effective than purchasing pre-made baskets.
And with only four ingredients in these DIY lotion bars, there’s no room for fragrance, chemicals or any other harmful additions. They’re perfect for just about everybody!
The combination of coconut oil and shea butter are what will keep skin nourished and smooth. Shea butter has been shown to have some wicked skin benefits, but my favorite will always be preventing and healing dry skin.
It’s only natural that in the colder months your skin gets a bit drier, more flakey. Shea butter is one of the puzzle pieces to preventing that (hydration helps, too!). Plus, it absorbs well and helps keep the skin soft.
The beeswax not only helps firm the lotion bars but adds a bit of a protective barrier on the skin as well — perfect to fight against the elements.
One thing to note is that these DIY Honey Lotion Bars do not contain essential oils. The combo of beeswax and honey give them a slight honey smell which I personally love.
If you want to customize them, you can easily whisk in the oils before pouring into the molds.
And depending on which silicone mold you choose, you can make these lotion bars large or small. I make my small ones for my toddler (small hands = small bars). So, they’re great for adults as well as little hands!
