Skip the store-bought version and make it yourself! This easy DIY Face Wash contains only four ingredients and whips up in under five minutes. Plus, it’s nourishing and all-natural. A great addition to your skincare routine.
To be honest, I was never one to spend a lot of money on fancy skin care products. Thanks so solid nutrition, I never had too much trouble with my skin. But being a workout junkie means that I get a wee bit grimy, so face wash is definitely needed.
The problem with many store-bought face washes is that they contain a slew of ingredients that often dry out skin and makes our body dependent on them.
On top of that, face washes can cost your wallet a pretty penny.
Making your own face wash, however, is not only simple, but cost-effective! Plus, you have the added benefit using non-toxic ingredients.
This DIY Face Wash is based on two ingredients:
Aloe Juice: a great source of antioxidants. And while I love using aloe on burns, it’s also a great option for skin in general as it can help reduce red bumps. I find aloe to be very healing, so anytime I need a bit of nourishment, it’s a go-to.
Castile Soap: the least toxic soap you’ll find on the market. You can use it on anything from diaper wipes solution to soap bars. It’s a staple when it comes to making your own products. Castile soap also tends to be gentle on the skin – which is perfect for a sensitive area like the face. It’s not abrasive, but it gently helps clean away the dirt.
I added in witch hazel because it’s a go-to toner for me and I find that it helps pick up the essential oils a bit more. I wouldn’t say it’s crucial to this recipe, so if you don’t have it, don’t sweat!
As for essential oils – here’s where it gets fun!
For this particular recipe, I used lavender. Lavender essential oils help calm inflammation, red bumps, and acne. I use it a lot! It’s also great before bed (which is when I usually my wash).
However, if I was to wash my face during my morning routine, I might make the swap to peppermint essential oil (or use both!).
Peppermint oil helps boost your mood and relieve tension; it also helps to wake you up and become alert. It would be an awesome idea to include it in part of your morning routine.
Regardless of the oils you choose, this DIY Face Wash is simple and effective. It leaves your skin feeling clean, but not rubbed raw.
