Nourish your skin with this three ingredient DIY Coffee Face Scrub. It whips up in under two minutes and helps exfoliate dry skin.
This three ingredient coffee scrub is simple to whip up and perfect for oily skin. It’s nourishing, anti-bacterial, and uses a soft exfoliant to help remove dead skin cells, leaving the rest of the skin looking fresh.
Now more than ever I think we all need to show ourselves a bit of leniency, a bit more self-care, and a lot more grace. We need to focus on simplifying and taking care of ourselves.
And while a simple coffee scrub isn’t the solution, it is a great way to step away from the chaos and do something little for yourself.
This three ingredient coffee scrub is perfect to whip and help exfoliate your skin. While sugar scrubs work nicely, coffee can help:
- Reduce puffiness
- Help blood circulation
- Reduce inflammation
Personally, I also find that coffee tends to be softer on the skin than say a salt scrub. Plus, who doesn’t love the smell of coffee!
I whipped up a batch of this simple coffee scrub to help alleviate some red bumps and, in combination with this DIY face cream for sensitive skin, it worked wonders.
Avoiding Oils In Face Scrubs
For some people, oil-based scrubs are just too much for their skin. They just leave too much grease.
In this case, honey and baking soda are key. Even though the baking soda is in minimal amounts, it still helps pull the grease from the skin. So, if you have oily skin, this is a wonderful place to start.
Honey, on the other hand, has antibacterial properties and can help skin heal. It definitely helps nourish damaged skin but in a non-oily way. Make sure to use raw honey though as that’s where you will get the most potent properties from (once honey has been heated, it looses some of its beneficial qualities).
When And How To Use This Scrub
Because the coffee face scrub is so easy to whip up (you probably have coffee grinds sitting in your machine right now!), this scrub is great to use 1-2 times per week.
Whip up a batch and take it with you into the shower (this creates less mess when washing it off than at the sink).
The face scrub is very liquid-y so make sure you scoop from the bottom to get a mix of all the ingredients. And due to the baking soda, it does expand slightly.
Gently rub the coffee scrub all around your face and especially in problem areas. Take time to massage it in. Then, if possible, let it sit for 1-2 minutes and rinse it off with warm water.
Not only does the coffee perk your mind up a bit, but it’s a great way to help your skin “turnover” without being too harsh.
