Take your shower routine up a notch by whipping up a couple batches of these eucalyptus shower melts! They are an easy DIY recipe that helps bring some self care into a basic routine.
Sometimes, the best step towards self care is to simply amp up the routines you already have! Instead of trying to schedule in time for a long hot bath, use these DIY Eucalyptus Shower Melts to make your morning routine that much better.
I find it interesting that in a world where we’re go-go-go we’re also needle point focused on the term “self care”. For me personally, self care isn’t really long baths, pedicures and spa days. Much of self care in my opinion means simply slowing down, enjoy simpler things and being more present.
I think trying to fit self care into your already established habits is much easier than trying to create full on new habits.
And that’s what makes these DIY shower melts perfect! As it turns out, shower melts are beyond simple to whip up and they make your showers just that much more potent. They take a regular habit and transform it into more. The eucalyptus oil forces you to take a few deep breathes, be more present and get you ready for the day.
Most people use eucalyptus essential oil when they feel they have a cold coming on (with good reason!). But I also find it’s a great oil to give your mind a boost too! Like peppermint, it’s stimulating, helps with inflammation and breathing and to some, it’s even calming.
Which is why it seemed like an awesome oil to add into these little melts!
These shower melts contain only four ingredients (five if you’re being fancy!) and add a little extra boost to your day. They also make super cute gifts!
Shower melts are something everyone can use because it’s already a frequent habit. Plus, you can scent the melts however you like which means with just one short step you can personalize the gift that much more.
I love giving these out to new moms especially because it’s not like the have many opportunities to embrace a self care pedicure (hehe).
Which up a big batch of these DIY shower melts, store them in a sealed container in the bathroom and pop one onto the tub floor after getting the water nice and steamy!

- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 Tablespoon water
- 25 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
- 1/8 teaspoon mica powder*
Other Tools
- Silicone Mold
How To Make DIY Eucalyptus Shower Melts
In a bowl, combine the citric acid, cornstarch and mica. Mix. In a mini cup, mix the water and essential oil.
Pour the liquid into the citric acid and begin to stir. It will bubble a bit. Mix until everything is wet.
Portion out into the silicone mold and use a silicone spatula to press them down firmly (this is what makes them hold together).
Let sit on the counter overnight.
Pop them out of the molds and store in a jar.
To use: get your shower nice and steamy, toss one of the disks on the floor of the bathtub. As it melts, the scent will be released for you to breathe in.
Note: this recipe makes 5 small disks. Depending on your molds it will make more/less. The mica powder is optional, and I only use it when giving them away for gifts/when I want to make them look pretty.
