I was recently sent the book, Super Nutrition for Babies: The Right Way to Feed Your Baby for Optimal Health to review. I have to say, that I am so glad that I was, because I really think that my life would have been poorer without it and I am not kidding. It filled a very big gap for me, and saved me hours and hours of research. Have you gone through the Healthy Baby Code program? If you haven’t and plan on getting pregnant or are pregnant, it is awesome and definitely worth the investment. Module 5 covers baby’s first foods and I found it very interesting and informative. I consider this book an extended and detailed version of module 5. It is based on WAPF/paleo/real-food fundamentals. While I was reading it, I kept thinking this is very easy to follow and very digestible, even for those parents that are not familiar with these lifestyles.
The authors, Kelly Genzlinger and Katherine Erlich, M.D. did a phenomenal job educating the reader and providing a step by step guide on how to feed your baby at every age. I also loved how the book came fully equipped with recipes and schedules. I finished this book and felt like I had no further questions (which is rare for me!). I felt comfortable and prepared for when we start introducing solid foods to our baby. An added bonus in the book, are the advertisements from the 30s to 50s, showing what babies were fed then, as expected – healthy, real foods including meat & liver!
I pretty much read this entire book in a few hours and recommended it to all my girlfriends with infants. I am so happy to have come across a book that covers proper nutrition, to help guide those parents that choose to feed their kids nutrient dense foods, opposed to fortified cereals. B & I will definitely be using this as our reference guide to feeding our little one!

I am really glad you posted this – I’ll check it out. I have a one year old and we had her on formula since birth, but I’ve been switching a lot of our diet over to a Paleo lifestyle and I’m not comfortable with putting her on whole milk. I wasn’t able to breastfeed, so I can’t just keep using that option. I’m hoping this will have some good ideas. She already eats what we eat and we’ve avoided the fruit juice/cracker/pasta/cheerio diet that most one year olds seem to be on. I will check this out!!

Hey Kiersten! I found this book to be really helpful in explaining which foods to feed to make sure the baby gets all its nutrients. I don’t have the book in front of me, but I think it also had information on homemade formula Hope you like it, as much as I did!

I am taking care of my 5 month old grandson and I am strictly Paleo myself. I am going to make his baby food when he starts on solids. Does this book have recipes as well as the knowledge base for feeding babies properly?
Arsy says
Dinah – Yes, it is awesome! It has all the educational info. But, it also has step by step guides, including recipes and schedules for introducing solids. We did Chris Kresser’s Healthy Baby Code and the concepts in this book are very much in line with what he teaches.
