Fuel up through the week with this simple beef and broccoli dinner recipe! Marinated in a sesame oil sauce, this weeknight dinner is a combination of sweet and savory sesame flavors.
At the end of the day, most of us just want a quick meal loaded with nutrients. And this beef and broccoli stir fry fits exactly that!
A paleo dinner recipe that uses immune-boosting ingredients to ramp up the flavor while giving a hint of sweetness at the same time.
What Type Of Beef Do I Need?
Your choice of the cut depends on preference, price point, and how you like your steak! Personally, I opted for a marinating steak because when stir-fried with the right ingredients, I find them to be the most tender.
However, flank steak would work as well and I’ve been known to use stewing beef in a pinch too.
While there is a marinade for this beef and broccoli recipe, it can be used for just twenty minutes to add some cooking flavor or done the night before. Both ways will work and both options will be delicious.
Can I Serve It Over Rice?
Depending on your specific dietary preferences this beef and broccoli recipe can work in a variety of ways.
If you’re following a paleo or grain-free diet, the dinner dish works perfectly served over nothing. It’s flavorful (with a hint of sweetness) and extremely filling. Or, you can serve it over spaghetti squash (like this low carb turkey meatballs and spaghetti squash) to let you stretch the dish while still keeping it paleo!
However, if you’re looking to stretch the dish a bit, serving it over rice or even soba noodles is a great choice.
Sticky Or Saucy?
This beef and broccoli dish is made and cooked in a maple sesame dressing. However, it is up to you if you wish there to be a bit of sauce with it or if you prefer a stickier version.
The recipe as it’s written will give you a bit of leftover sauce at the bottom of the pan. This is perfect if serving over something else or if you just like your stir fry a bit juicy.
However, if you add ½ teaspoon of arrowroot powder whisked into the hot sauce, the sauce will thicken up giving a bit more of a sticky texture.
Notes On Cooking The Beef & Broccoli
This stir fry was created with quick and simple in mind! Thus, it only makes two servings if you’re not looking to stretch it.
Personally though, I like to double the batch so that there’s enough for leftovers the next day.
Keep cooking to a minimum and batch cook- it makes your weeks so much easier!
Cooking times vary depending on the type of pan used as well as how cooked you like your vegetables.
In my house, we prefer to keep our veggies slightly crunchy. So, in the last few minutes of cooking, make sure to check frequently and remove from heat at your personal preference.
