Quick and Easy Peach Sorbet

Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Paleo

Quick-Peach-Sorbet-8

Now that the weather is getting nice out, I’m finding myself craving frozen treats every so often. One of my favorite summer treats is homemade sorbets, and today I’m going to share with you my secret for making sorbets quickly and easily using a food processor. With this method, once the preparation is done, you can quickly and easily make a sorbet at the last minute.

To prepare in advance for these healthy homemade sorbets, you can freeze the fruits yourself or you can buy pre-frozen fruits, which really makes this dessert so simple that you can whip it up in a matter of minutes. The great thing about that is that you can always have a healthier choice available when you are in the mood for something sweet.

The first easy homemade sorbet that I made was a 5 minute watermelon sorbet using watermelon and lime juice. I was so excited to end up with a sorbet texture that could easily be formed into scoops rather than something slushy. Because of its simplicity, it was instantly one of my favorite desserts, as well as one of my most popular posts.

I couldn’t stop with watermelon, though, and tried all sorts of other combinations. When I was really trying to cut down on sugar, I used cucumbers to come up with an easy mojito sorbet that was even candida diet safe! Then I tried using store-bought frozen pineapple to make a smooth and creamy pineapple sorbet that had a texture more like sherbet or ice cream. Using a store-bought frozen fruit takes all of the prep time away from the recipe!

Today I’m going to share with you one of my new favorite combinations. It’s another creamy sorbet.

I was able to buy some organic peaches at a decent price the other day, and I decided to peel and slice them and freeze them on a silicone sheet in the freezer to get them ready for making a peach sorbet. To freeze fruit, I like to work in relatively small batches and spread them out on small baking sheets in the freezer on top of either parchment paper or a silicone sheet so that the fruit doesn’t stick to the tray. Once the fruit is frozen solid, I take it off the tray and store it in freezer bags until I’m ready to use it.

Frozen bananas can regularly be found in my freezer, ready for smoothies or sorbets. I like to use bananas when they are very ripe and sweet, but when they look like they are starting to get a little “too ripe,” I slice them and freeze them to save them for later.

Bananas are perfect for homemade sorbets because they add just the right amount of sweetness and they make the sorbet creamy. I don’t usually add any other sweeteners to mine, but it is possible to add a little sweetener of your choice when you process your fruits into a sorbet.

Ready to get started? It’s quick and easy!

Mmmmmm. Yes! Peaches in the summer are divine, but turned into ice cream?! Even more so. I bet this would be really good with Mango too. I’m totally making this. Thanks!

Hopefully the sun will head your way soon. Here it’s just starting to get hot out and I’ve just started to make sorbets again.
      I hope you enjoy it!
