Easy Slow Cooker Maple Orange Pork Shoulder

Gluten-Free Dairy-Free

IMG_1352

Per the request of some blog readers and some friends, I spent some time developing really easy slow cooker recipes for you.

I have to say, as much as I love spending time in the kitchen, it was an awesome week. I spent 5 minutes every morning dumping everything in the slow cooker and I basically stayed out of the kitchen the rest of the day. It was a nice break from constantly cooking!

Here is yet another super easy slow cooker recipe, Maple Orange Pork Shoulder. This one will take a little more than 5 minutes to prep, maybe 7 minutes! Like always, you can fancy it up by using my 5 Tips for Perfect Slow Cooker Meals.

Easy Slow Cooker Maple Orange Pork Shoulder

Ingredients
2.5-3lbs. pork shoulder, cut into several big chunks
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried sage
1/2 cup of fresh squeezed orange juice
1 tablespoon maple syrup (make sure it is 100% pure maple syrup)
1 apple, peeled and chopped

  1. Rub the pork with the salt, pepper and sage. Place it in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the apples, orange juice and maple syrup.
  3. Cook on low for 6 hours. Once it is cooked, use 2 forks to pull the pork apart.
  4. Enjoy!
These are my two favorite slow cookers: Hamilton Beach Programmable Model and Vita-Clay Multi-Cooker. You can read about why I like these 2 models in my post about the 15 Best Paleo Slow Cooker Recipes.Happy Slow Cooking!

This looks delicious, but the title has the word “maple” in it, and I don’t see maple referred to in the recipe. I think I’ll try this soon since I have some pork in the fridge. Thanks!

Thank you for catching this! I was trying to get the recipe up before the little one woke up from her nap. I’ll update it now.

Sounds scrumptious! What sides would you recommend for this dish?

    Yummy .

It looks delicious. Lately I’ve been looking for lots of information about the Paleo diet and I’ve found a lot of things that seemed obvious and “how didn’t I think of it before”. I have plenty of recipes as well, i think I’m good for 6 months or so 🙂

The more I read, the more I think to give it a chance , but it’s not so easy to give up what you knew and did all your life. It requires a courageous decision .

The truth is I was not going to try any diet , but lately I’m trying to research on a few diet plans ( actually I have a survey on my blog and that’s why I’m researching ) , but hey , if it’s good for so many people I guess I should give it a try.

Until now I got feedback from many people , but unfortunately I did not get enough information from people who embraced the Paleo diet . I would love it if you could help me here .

Apples are the last ingredient on the list. Any variety will work!

Low or high for the slow cooker? I didn’t see that mentioned. Thanks!
